Mauro Gianetti & Ran Margaliot presenting:

Tour d' Israel 2011

Following the successful 'Tour Servetto de Israel' of 2010 Genesis Cycling is excited to host once again the people behind Footon Servetto and their Guests

Even After the tour of 2010 with its loaded itinerary with rides and experiences, the country of Israel has many more to offer. While the tour of 2010 took us from north to south across the whole country, this time we take a deep plunge into the north region of Israel – the Galilee. The four riding stages will offer us the complete Galilean experience as the cradle of Christianity and home of many cultures.
The program also includes some exciting activities for non-cycling participants or cycling participants who choose not ride on a specific day. Among these are visit to the ancient city of Caesarea, visit to ancient Jewish heritage sites where the wisdom of the "Kabala" was written, Caper Naum and Tabgha and more.
The tour will end with a relexing weekend at the Dead Sea.

Tour Program

Day 1 - Arrival Day
The first day will be dedicated to preparation and we will stay in Tel Aviv.

Day 2 - Carmel Mountain
The stage starts at the rural area south to the Carmel Mountain. We start the stage rolling across the green hills of the region on beautiful country side roads. During the stage we slowly gain altitude until we start climbing up the Carmel Mountain. After a 7 km climb we arrive at the Carmelite order monastery at the top of the mountain. The monastery is located where it is believed that Elijah the prophet climbed up to the sky on carriage of fire. After visiting the place we will continue riding through the Druze village of 'Dalyat el Carmel' until we reach the western edge of mountain with the spectacular view of Haifa city and the Haifa bay.

Day 3 - Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Galilee
The 'sea to sea' stage starts at the cliffs of 'Rosh Hanikra' on top of the Mediterranean Sea and finishes on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. The stage literally crosses Israel to its width and goes across villages of Druze, Bedouins, Christians, Muslims, Circassians and Jews that represent the unique cultural diversity of this small piece of land. In doing so, this stage includes some intense climbs and thrilling downhills, but our logistic escort allows each rider to choose where to climb the mountain and where to climb on the car.

Day 4 - Rest Day
On this day we will tour the Galilee by bus. We will visit Nazareth and its surroundings including kafer Cana, Mount Precipice and more unique Christian sites of the Galilee.

Day 5 - Tiberius to Mount Tabor
The third stage will start above the city of Tiberius and will take us south along the Sea of Galilee and river Jordan to the Valley of Harod where some of the most fascinating stories of the Old Testament took place. The stage will end at the top of Mount Tabor after a short but very intensive climb.

Day 6 - The Dead Sea to Masada
The fourth and last stage will allow us to taste the desert experience at the area of the Dead Sea. This short though intensive stage will take us up from the lowest place on earth – the Dead Sea level – to the ruins of Masada where we finish the tour and explore the heroic story of the ancient habitants of this place.

Day 7 - Rest day in The Dead Sea
We will have the whole weekend to enjoy the wonders of the lowest place on earth and enjoy the hotel beach and spa facilities after a long week of cycling.

Day 8 - Tel Aviv
The eighth day will be spent in Tel Aviv where we will have plenty of time to explore the city independently until our flight in the evening.
